Line and Shape
In the 5th photo I am standing fairly close to the stone stairs which is the focal point of the picture. I stood at this distance to avoid capturing any elements that would distract from the main object.
I took the photo viewing the stairs straight on. The majority of my photographs are vertical with exception to the 5th photo. The rule of thirds is demonstrated in the 5th photo by the implied line through the middle of the photo and the two implied lines to the left and right ends of the stairs. The photo of the stone stairs successfully leads the viewer's eye through the shot by catching their attention towards the bottom of the stairs then leading them upward and eventually off the photo. |
Pattern and Texture
The fifth image could potentially be overexposed. Despite having a lightest point the images darkest areas are easy to miss and fairly unnoticeable leaving an overall grayish looking photo.
Which image is underexposed? (too dark) Which area/areas is/are too dark?
The first photo is the best example of a properly exposed image. It shows the darkest blacks in its shadows on the fence and lightest whites in the sky above.
The third photo is the best example of pattern and texture. The clarity of the image allows the viewer to see the patterns and textures created by the veins in the leaf.
This photo is horizontal.
Does this photo follow the rule of thirds? Why or why not?
This image also successfully follows the rule of thirds. The focal point (the leaf) is at the top rightish as opposed to dead center.

Favorite Photo
I have to say this is my favorite photo because of the dark color and pattern which invoke almost a mystic feeling.
